2. TRC seeks feedback on Baker Street cycling and walking upgrades
What’s Happening
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is seeking feedback on proposed upgrades to cycling and walking facilities along Baker Street in Darling Heights.
The improvements include both on-road cycle lanes and an off-road shared path aimed at enhancing connectivity between Platz Street and the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) Ring Road.
Why It Matters
This project is a key part of the Principal Cycle Network, aiming to improve access to major local destinations such as UniSQ, Darling Heights State School, and nearby parks and businesses.
It’s also aligned with the Council's push to prioritise active and public transport, encouraging residents to opt for walking or cycling over driving.
Local Impact
The upgrades will create safer, more accessible routes for cyclists and pedestrians, benefiting students, local businesses, and residents.
It’s a critical step toward improving the region’s sustainable transport infrastructure.
What To Look For Next
TRC invites the community to view the updated plans and provide feedback by November 1 2024.
Review the project details and share your thoughts on the Council’s YourSay page.
